vagesty and vagesty women's center: a triumph in women's health entrepreneurship
Overview
In the world of women's health, Annterria Bruce emerged as a visionary entrepreneur with her businesses, Vagesty and Vagesty Women’s Center. Focused on providing women’s vaginal health products and pioneering a Virtual Women’s Clinic, she embarked on a journey that not only transformed her aspirations into reality but also brought about a positive impact on women's well-being.
The Challenge
Bruce faced the crucial challenge of securing funds to kickstart her Virtual Women’s Wellness Clinic. Recognizing the need for financial support to pay for a supervising physician, HIPAA-compliant insurance, and the development of a user-friendly website, Bruce sought assistance from the Brazosport College Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
Her SBDC advisor played a pivotal role in guiding Bruce through the challenging terrain of securing funding. Recognizing the potential of Bruce's venture, they recommended applying to the BIPOC Accelerator Program offered by PeopleFund, a strategic move that aligned with Bruce's mission. Moreover, the advisor lent her expertise in designing a website that not only showcased Vagesty’s clinical services and retail products but also exuded professionalism and user-friendliness. This comprehensive support laid the foundation for Vagesty's success.
The Results
Bruce's determination and her advisor's guidance proved to be a winning combination. Through her efforts, Bruce secured a private loan and a grant from PeopleFund. These funds were instrumental in not only establishing the Virtual Women’s Wellness Clinic but also in executing a full rebrand and creating a new, visually appealing website for the e-commerce segment of her business. With an additional personal investment, Bruce transformed her vision into reality, creating employment opportunities by generating 2 full-time and 2 part-time jobs. The infusion of funds and strategic guidance catapulted Vagesty into a successful launch.
Vagesty's story is not just a success in entrepreneurship; it's a celebration of empowering women’s health and breaking barriers in the business world.
Taking the leap
Encouraged by the success of her endeavors, Bruce made a bold decision – she left her position as a Nurse Practitioner to fully commit herself to her burgeoning businesses. This leap of faith not only marked a personal milestone for Bruce but also exemplified the potential for women to thrive in entrepreneurship, particularly in the field of women’s health.
Bruce's journey with Vagesty and Vagesty Women’s Center stands as a testament to the power of vision, determination, and strategic support. The collaboration between Bruce and the SBDC showcased the impactful role that advisors and mentorship can play in the success of women-owned businesses. Vagesty's story is not just a success in entrepreneurship; it's a celebration of empowering women’s health and breaking barriers in the business world.
