Rhonda Ellisor is the director of Sam Houston State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in The Woodlands/Huntsville. Rhonda joined the SBDC after serving as Director of Major Giving in the Office of University Advancement at Sam Houston for 14 years. She is an SHSU alumna with a BBA in general business. She is also a Texas Real Estate Broker and a private pilot. Her background includes work with various types of small businesses as a small business employee, founder and owner. She has a long history in a variety of real estate sales and leasing, promotion, event planning, budgeting and marketing positions.

Prior to SHSU, she served as the executive vice president for the Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce and director of the Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Sam Houston Statue Visitor Center and Gift Shop. During her time at the Chamber of Commerce, she oversaw the economic development effort, bringing the local business community together and developing pro-business initiatives. Rhonda currently serves on the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce Executive Board. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Huntsville, where she previously served as president and assistant district governor.


Kim McLerran has been a Business Advisor for the Sam Houston State University Small Business Development Center in Huntsville since 2009.  She has a BBA from SHSU and has obtained certificates of numerous trainings, in various fields with hands on experience in the business, legal, real estate and education industries.  She has resided in the Huntsville area since 1996 and has personal business experiences in the cattle and land management industries. McLerran is a community and chamber volunteer. 

John Fletcher is a Business Advisor for the Sam Houston State University Small Business Development Center in Huntsville.  He has a BS from SHSU and an MA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA.  He brings 21 years of owner/operator business experience, specializing in multimedia and marketing as the owner of an award-winning video production company.  He joined the center in 2021 after serving as the Operations Manager and Director of Content for USA Jump Rope for 17 years.  He has been a resident of Huntsville since 1990 and is a member of the Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce.

Sue Slater is an administrative assistant with Sam Houston State University SBDC. She graduated from Huntsville High School and attended Sam Houston State University and Texas A&M University where she studied accounting. She enjoyed 37 years as Owner/Manager of small family businesses in the retail and college bookstore industries. Slater is active in the community and volunteers with the Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce.

Eric Garcia is a business advisor with the Sam Houston State University Small Business Development Center in Huntsville/The Woodlands. He is joining the center after spending the last 13 years in banking in various roles, including specializing in small business banking, retirement advising and personal banking. Eric has owned and operated a seasonal retail small business for the past 20 years and currently has four locations. Eric has a BBA degree in accounting and in finance from Sam Houston State University, and has conducted financial education seminars for Huntsville ISD, SHSU student activities and LULAC of Huntsville. He is a current member of the Sons of The American Legion and has a great uncle who earned the Medal of Honor in World War II.
