John Lee is the Director for the Lamar University SBDC. He joined the SBDC in 2018 after retiring from a 37-year career in management with United Parcel Service. In his previous occupation, Lee directly interacted with every type and size of small business and learned the reasons for their success or failure. He has a B.S. in Management from Letourneau University and an M.B.A. from Lamar University. John is passionate about developing and creating opportunities for small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Jenna Erwin Jenna is originally from Bayonne, NJ, and brings a wealth of experience to her current role as Center Coordinator for the SBDC at Lamar University. Jenna comes to us from the Office of Undergraduate Research at LU, where she had the role of Undergraduate Research Coordinator. There, she was responsible for program development, budget management, and administrative support. Jenna's proficiency in coordinating client onboarding, overseeing procurement procedures, and facilitating training seminars was instrumental in driving the success of the department. Before joining Lamar University, Jenna worked as a Sponsored Research Technician at the San Diego State University Research Foundation, where she provided invaluable support in grant management and proposal development. Outside of work, Jenna finds joy in her family life with her husband, Tyler, a Beaumont Police officer, and their two children, Noah and Eli. Together, they share their home with six beloved pets and actively volunteer with local animal rescues.
Mark Speirs has a strong and varied background in small business management and promotion with seven years as a small business advisor and five years working in business and economic development. He is an experienced SBDC consultant who has counseled hundreds of businesses and clients in starting and growing their business. Prior to working in the public sector, Mark spent eighteen years in the commercial and residential construction field, eight years of which was spent as a business owner/licensed contractor working with communities and building professionals on real estate development projects in Maricopa County, Arizona. Mark’s education includes dual Bachelors' degrees in Economics and Information Technology. He is also a graduate of Temple University’s School of Environmental Design with a Master of Science degree in Community and Regional Planning, Economic Development core.
