StartSmart: Developing Your Comprehensive Business Plan | Houston Center SBDC

Join UH SBDC's Vision2Venture pathway to develop a comprehensive, best-practice business plan. Through structured learning utilizing Wendy Kennedy's "Design Your Business for Mainstreet" and the LivePlan platform, you'll transform your business concept into a detailed roadmap for success. Each three-hour session combines brief lectures with hands-on activities, allowing you to work directly on your business plan while receiving expert guidance from industry professionals and SBDC advisors. 

Participants must attend all sessions, complete regular homework assignments, and actively engage in class discussions and activities. To finalize your professional business plan, participants are required to schedule individual meetings with an advisor to specifically develop financial projections. Class sessions emphasize constructive group discussions and feedback rather than individualized consultation or writing time. This four-week series will be held on Mondays, May 5, 12, and 19, and Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Certificates of Completion will be awarded to anyone attending all four sessions.

This four-week program is designed for entrepreneurs who have a clear business concept and are ready to develop a detailed business plan. Participants should be prepared to commit to weekly pre-work and active participation in hands-on workshop activities.

Preregistration is highly recommended. If an event is canceled or postponed and you have not preregistered, we will not be able to contact you.

If you choose to register at the door, you will need your mobile device to complete your registration otherwise you will not be allowed to attend.

Satisfactory meeting room temperatures are difficult to maintain. Always bring a sweater or jacket to ensure comfort.

No children under the age of 16 are allowed in the workshop.
