40 Years: 2014-2024
Modern Impact and Crisis Response
In its fourth decade, from 2014 to 2024, the SBDC network continued its mission of empowering entrepreneurs, supporting 28,681 clients, creating 22,440 jobs, and securing over $1.4 billion in funding and capital for small businesses. During this time, the network helped launch 3,444 new businesses, further driving economic growth in the region.
In 2017, the SBDC responded to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey by establishing Business Recovery Centers in the affected areas. These centers provided vital assistance with SBA disaster loan applications and offered advice on recovery strategies, helping businesses get back on their feet.
In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic deeply impacted small businesses, the SBDC received a $4 million CARES grant to fund recovery programs. These programs provided small businesses with resources, advising, and financial support to navigate the challenges of the pandemic.
This decade also saw the expansion of virtual advising and webinars, ensuring that businesses could access the help they needed remotely, furthering SBDC’s impact in an increasingly digital world.
