30 Years: 2004-2014

Digital Transformation and Recovery Support

The period between 2004 and 2014 was marked by the digital transformation of business. The SBDC network was instrumental in helping more than 24,000 clients transition into the digital age, providing guidance on e-commerce, digital marketing, and online business strategies. To meet growing regional demand, the Galveston County SBDC in Texas City was added to the network in 2006. Galveston County SBDC is another UH hosted SBDC location.

This decade also saw the rise of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, which changed the way businesses engaged with their customers. The SBDC was proactive in offering workshops and training to help small businesses leverage these tools to build their brands, expand their reach, and increase sales.

Following the 2008 financial crisis, the SBDC played a crucial role in helping businesses recover through strategic financial advising, loan assistance, and recovery planning. The SBDC’s commitment to innovation and adaptation ensured that small businesses had the tools and support needed to survive and thrive during these challenging economic times.
